JULY BOARD REFLECTIONS

THOUGHTS FROM REGIONAL LEADERS

What is the most interesting or inspiring aspect of your work right now?

At Goodwill we continue to aggressively pursue and build enterprising partnerships with community and technical colleges – and directly with regional business and industry – to build new job and education opportunity pathways for Goodwill’s students.  In the past year alone these partnerships have resulted in significant increases in the number of Goodwill students being placed into jobs and enrolling in college, and we expect this positive trend to continue well into the foreseeable future.  I am constantly inspired by the tenacity and commitment of our students, who work hard every day, doing whatever it takes to improve their lives and provide for their families.

What does being a part of the WTCSE community mean to you?

Having the opportunity to connect and network with key business leaders is of tremendous value.  Goodwill has magnificent brand recognition and a wonderful reputation in this community.  But it is still the case that most people don’t quite know what we do on the mission side of things.  So, being on the board of WTCSE provides a forum and a pathway for me and my staff to tell Goodwill’s story to leaders who can help us build bridges and expand opportunities for our students.  It has been a very valuable experience and I’m thrilled to be a part of WTCSE!
